PSH COVID-19 Controls & Safety Plan

24 Aug 2021 - COVID 19 update

SPASA New Zealand has sought specific advice from MBIE in relation to our industry’s
continued operation as an essential service under Alert level 4 restrictions.

• It is up to businesses the determine if they are able to operate within the current
guidelines of Level 4 lockdown. See below links.
• Non-urgent work must wait - if your work does not meet the criteria or you’re unsure
if it does, you should defer the work to when the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
• Our industry can continue to operate where there is an urgent requirement and/or a
health and safety risk/need.
• Whilst pool building/installation cannot continue under Alert level 4, related work
including sanitisation, chemical, maintenance, service and technician services can
continue where there is an urgent requirement and/or health and safety risk/need.
All businesses should have strict health and hygiene measures in place.
• General retail stores can operate online for the purpose of
delivering 'essential' consumer products only. They cannot allow customers onto their
premises. Customer interactions should be contactless, including for ordering,
payment and delivery. Customers must not collect goods from stores.
• Businesses or services necessary to maintain other Alert level 4 businesses or services
can operate, including those essential for people during Alert level 4 lockdown to
remain healthy and safe whilst isolating. This may include retirement villages,
hospitals, rest homes, aquatic facilities, body corporate pools etc.
There is no requirement to register with MBIE if undertaking essential work under Alert
level 4 restrictions.
Important - If visiting a premises to undertake essential work (servicing, maintenance,
technicians), please ensure staff carry an identity document that contains the following;

• Their name and who they represent.
• Confirmation that they are undertaking Alert level 4 business and services.
• The address of their organisation.
